ScreamThe golden hues of light from the tarnished Coleman lantern flickered eerily in the black depth of the woods. The two young men, standing protectively together, peered into the lingering shadows awaiting some slight movement among the trees. The deadly silence was marked only with the faintest whisper of one of the men's nylon jacket. It seemed as though even the tiniest hum of an insect had been interrupted by whatever sort of man or beast lurked like a panther ready to pounce in the complete darkness beyond. Even the moon, safe above in its celestial homestead seemed to take shelter behind the fluffy security blanket of clouds.

HauntingIt was not the first time he saw her. Yet the woman in gray stood out in Jonathan's mind as well as in the sea of black overcoats that crowded the sidewalks of Wall Street at rush hour. He noticed her a month after starting his job at Shueller and Jones. That was three months ago. Now it was March, where spring's efforts were blooming, yet winter had not relinquished its icy touch.
Like clockwork she could be seen daily, walking the same path through the sea of businessmen, her eyes never once straying around her, as she glided like a ship between the black waves. Her pace remained steadfast and agile.

The spine, a row of ossified crowns
crowded and curved around that defining neural superhighway;
that extension cord,
adventurously connecting the visceral
to the peripheral.
The horseshoe crab vertebrae
scuttle to break through skin at your touch;
a defining shiver.
I see your hands
around the rounded hills of her shoulders.
Scapulae jutting out with the extremity of the bend,
like a chicken's wings.
And the bands of these dorsal muscles
stand up like wings,
cast shadows in the dimples of the pelvis that she lifts;
that will fold o
